Reporting Services Data Connector (RSDC)

Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services is used to generate reports in various output formats, and then to distribute these reports to users in many different ways. Among other output formats, SSRS can generate hard-copy to any printer, PDF docs, HTML, and Excel workbooks. Reports can be created on request or on a scheduled basis, and distributed via email, posted to a website, transmitted via Web Services, and other methods. For more information about Reporting Services itself, see the Microsoft website here.

SSRS allows for databases other than Microsoft SQL Server to provide data. Data from MultiValue / Pick DBMS environments can be used to generate application-specific reports, and MV data can be used in conjunction with data from other MV and/or relational systems to create unified reports, aggregating data for an enterprise-wide view of business data.

The Reporting Services Data Connector uses mv.NET as the interface to MV DBMS platforms including Universe, Unidata, jBASE, D3, QM, Reality, Univision, mvBASE, and mvEnterprise. It can even be used to give new life to legacy environments like Advanced Pick, Power95.

RSDC is sold with two license types: The Developer license allows a knowledgeable report author to use RSDC to define reports using MV data sources. End-user Runtime licenses are used to access the DBMS during the report generation process. The generation of multiple concurrent reports requires individual runtime licenses. Sites that already have an mv.NET developer license are entitled to a discount for the RSDC Developer license.

Nebula Research and Development sells and supports RSDC and provides report development services and other services for integrating RSDC into existing environments.
