System Maintenance – a quick note
I’m often called to remedy one-off issues in D3 environments, and to look at systems for family/friends when things start running slow. Most home/business environments share these common traits: Huge logs which degrade performance, and Windows Event Logs showing a large number of application, system, and security issues.
People install a system and then just assume it requires no maintenance – familiarity has bred contempt. A car needs an oil change every couple thousand miles and a periodic tire rotation. Many of us visit a doctor for a periodic checkup. A computer needs the same sort of occasional maintenance. Without it, people find themselves surprised when the system grinds to a crawl, or when their corporate data is published. Don’t be one of these sites. Get someone to check through your systems periodically.
