About

I’m Tony Gravagno, President of Nebula R&D. I have been in IT for over [DateCounter startDate=”1978-02-01″ endDate=”now” format=”Years”] years and have received regional and national awards for excellence in data processing and other fields. I’ve been in the Pick world for [DateCounter startDate=”1984-02-01″ endDate=”now” format=”Years”] years, working in many vertical industries and with many horizontal software packages, and am recognized worldwide as an industry authority. Over time I’ve expanded into the world of .NET with book credits and many magazine articles. I’ve spoken to many groups on various IT topics. All of this business and technical experience adds value to every Nebula project.

Most of my colleagues specialize in maintaining legacy BASIC applications. While I work on applications too, my specialty is in advanced development, modernization, integration with other systems, and consulting senior management on their IT options. I also provide training, ongoing mentoring, and project management to coordinate teams working with different technologies. As you see, this is all about looking forward so that companies can make the most of their existing assets, and integrate with modern technology, rather than migrating.

Nebula R&D is also a reseller and provides Value-Add DBMS management services for the D3 MVDBMS from Rocket Software.

History of D3: Originally R83 with Pick Systems, the name changed to Advanced Pick, then to D3. The company was then changed to Raining Data, then TigerLogic, and now Rocket Software. In addition to D3, Rocket Software also provides the MVDBMS platforms Universe, Unidata and mvBase.

In the site blog, my goal is to share notes about various topics with colleagues, clients, and prospects. Technical topics include .NET, MultiValue / Pick DBMS matters, GUI, code nuances, mobile development, and web services and other connectivity. I hope you’ll find the postings to be informative and inspirational for development with your own applications. Please subscribe to the RSS for new content.
